Hi, still having trouble with IPv6. Solved, the problem with the warning messages by installing Socket6. Thought I had done this before, but it was not the case. No more warning messages when I'm start smokeping, but IPv6 is not working, still 100% loss for all defined targets. - I tried with DNS names and IPv6 addresses. - I checked fping6 manually with my targets, it works without problems. - Logfile gives no error messages:
Jul 7 13:06:51 www-server smokeping[9470]: Launched successfully Jul 7 13:06:51 www-server smokeping[9470]: FPing6: probing 14 targets Jul 7 13:06:51 www-server smokeping[9470]: FPing: probing 1 targets Jul 7 13:06:51 www-server smokeping[9470]: DNS: probing 4 targets - I checked with tcpdump, but no ICMPv6 packets leaving the host to the specified targets. Has anyone got smokeping successfully running with IPv6 targets? Any ideas welcome. One more question: What in detail is the meaning of the 'probe' statements in Level1 in the config file? Does it mean a default probe for all targets without a 'probe' statement or is it used for the following targets until the next probe statement is made? regards, Christian ----- Forwarded message from Christian Hahn <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> ----- Date: Fri, 4 Jul 2003 15:26:35 +0200 From: Christian Hahn <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [smokeping-users] Fw: IPv6 only usage Hi, I'm again. I looked at mail archive and read the discussion on the broken DNS.pm. Looks like this is related to IPv6 too. If I define an IPv6 only host name I get 100% loss for this host. Does anybody else saw this behaviour? My smokeping is fresh installed, so my experience is not so good by now. Hope it will increase over time ;) cheers, Christian ----- Forwarded message from Christian Hahn <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> ----- Date: Fri, 4 Jul 2003 11:48:58 +0200 From: Christian Hahn <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [smokeping-users] IPv6 only usage Hi, I want to use smokeping for IPv6 only. Every time it comes up or reloades it presents error messages : "WARNING: Hostname 'IPv6-only.host' does currently not resolve to an IP address" This slows down the start of the tools and also sometimes the execution of the CGI script. Is there a way to avoid this messages or to avoid the checks smokeping does? thanks and cheers Christian -- ======================================= Christian Hahn [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- Unsubscribe mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Help mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Archive http://www.ee.ethz.ch/~slist/smokeping-users WebAdmin http://www.ee.ethz.ch/~slist/lsg2.cgi ----- End forwarded message ----- -- ======================================= Christian Hahn [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- Unsubscribe mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Help mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Archive http://www.ee.ethz.ch/~slist/smokeping-users WebAdmin http://www.ee.ethz.ch/~slist/lsg2.cgi ----- End forwarded message ----- -- ======================================= Christian Hahn [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- Unsubscribe mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Help mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Archive http://www.ee.ethz.ch/~slist/smokeping-users WebAdmin http://www.ee.ethz.ch/~slist/lsg2.cgi
