Well, I would say thats your problem. You have told smokeping is located at /usr/sbin/fping, but it appears its not their. First do "updatedb", which will cause the system to update its database. Next, do "locate fping". This will tell you where its located at. I believe you can just update your config file to point to the new location, and then restart smokeping. If the locate command cant find fping, then you will need to install it. Once you can execute the fping command, then you should be good to go. _____

If your PNG's are empty it would appear to me that your not able to ping the devices. I want to make sure if your config files use hostnames, that you are in fact fpinging the hostnames not the IP's they resolve to. you mention you don't know the fping command. You should have installed the fping utility while installing smokeping. do an "updatedb" then "locate fping" ( assuming your using linux ) and see if you have the file installed. If not, I suspect that not having fping installed could be your problem. Verify that the names you have in your configuration are pingable first. Secondly I would look the RRD files getting created. Are these files showing data. I don't recall off the top of my head the exact syntax, but I know you can query the RRD files to find out what they contain. Perhaps someone that has a working system in front of them can tell you. If your see the graphs, and they are refreshing then I would say your permissions are most likely ok because they had to be created at some point. -----Original Message----- From: mrtg user [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, February 27, 2004 10:03 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [smokeping-users] Graphs Appearing but no reading Dear Smokeping users, i m new to smoke ping i have installed the smokeping and its working fine just the problem is msopkeping is refreshing but not pl lo otting any readings only blank graphs... can anyone tell me the issue!!!! i have mentiond the permissions to apache to the img dir Really in trouble Smokeping user --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!?
