Seems like it happened again, I even put all the hosts in my /etc/hosts file to see if it was DNS or just the crappy network I am trying to get a handle on. Still did it. No logs what so ever.

Note: syslog logging is only used if you specify this. syslogpriority The syslog priority to use, eg. debug, notice or info. Default is $DEFAULTPRIORITY. So in your config file, set: syslogfacility = local0 syslogpriority = debug However, if your problem is the same as mine, the somkeping background session which does all the PINGs just goes away and I never find anything on the logs at all. All the graphs go quiet and I don't see any alerts. I've noticed that the problem occurs most often when one or more hosts are unreachable for long periods or (more likely) DNS craps out. But I haven't nailed it down to anything specific yet. Dan -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Edwards, Thomas W. Sent: Monday, August 02, 2004 9:47 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [smokeping-users] debugging Is there a way to turn on debugging while running smokeping. It seems to just die for no apparent reason randomly whenever it feels like it, manual restarts of the script I found on the site seems to work for awhile anyways. Also it died on it's own if I just run the command manually to start it. Any help or insite would be greatly appreciated...what would anyone need to help with this? -- Unsubscribe mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Help mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Archive http://www.ee.ethz.ch/~slist/smokeping-users WebAdmin http://www.ee.ethz.ch/~slist/lsg2.cgi -- Unsubscribe mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Help mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Archive http://www.ee.ethz.ch/~slist/smokeping-users WebAdmin http://www.ee.ethz.ch/~slist/lsg2.cgi
