I don't think so... if you are using fping, it pings each node once, then it cycles back and pings each note again. I think the minimum time is something like 1 second, but with a lot of nodes to ping there will be several seconds between two pings to the same host. Also, not to bring up a "dead issue" if you have already been through, but re duplex... keep in mind that a duplex mismatch at *any* Ethernet interface in the path can kill your performance (IOW, don't just check the server).
