A Smokeping slave doesn't need root privileges, so for my slaves I just unpack Smokeping somewhere under the home directory of a non-privileged user and run it as that user. You don't need to put the cache and PID files in the system areas, You can use --cache-dir=/home/directory/smokeping/ \ --shared-secret=/home/directory/smokeping/smokeping_id You could do the same with RRD and anything else needed and add the appropriate path(s) to @INC etc. but I wouldn't personally do that; if the slaves are Webservers they've probably got a lot of dubious Perl stuff installed anyway. :) -- 73, Ged. _______________________________________________ smokeping-users mailing list [email protected] https://lists.oetiker.ch/cgi-bin/listinfo/smokeping-users
