Hi,

JavaComm v2 (which is available on SMSLib download page) is deprecated
from SUN, *but* works fine on Win32 systems.
RxTx covers both Win32 and Linux/Unix like systems.
SUN JavaComm v3 works with Linux and Solaris.

Its pretty easy to test and see which comm library works for you. In
the extreme case that all fail, you can always buy IP modems and never
worry about the serial comms again.
