Hi, Dark Cloud
Thank You very much for your response.

Now I have put the log4j.properties file in my classpath and it is
working well. But this was not the problem with me since it was only
warning. Actually the

problem is that :

1) In my J2EE application when a user enter his/her mobile number in
registration form i want to send a sms to the user mobile number
using ajax by giving action

to a perticular jsp page or servlet (that actually contains the
message sending code as i had written in my first post for
SendMessage.jsp page) .

Now i am able to send the message only first time when the user enter
his/her number in the registration form. further i want to register
more after registering

user user then the SendMessage.jsp page will be called again for
sending message to the other user, therefore the one service is
already running and the another

will try to run, which result in either "gateway stopped " and "port
alreay in use" type of error or "NoSuchPortException " error.

Now to resolve this problem i have to first stop then start my IBM
WebSphere Application Server.

2) I have also tried the singleton pattern given by You look like that:
=============================================================================
package misc;
import java.io.IOException;
import org.smslib.GatewayException;
import org.smslib.SMSLibException;
import org.smslib.Service;
import org.smslib.TimeoutException;
import org.smslib.AGateway.Protocols;
import org.smslib.Service.ServiceStatus;
import org.smslib.modem.SerialModemGateway;
public class MyServiceWrapper
{
        private Service service;
        private  static MyServiceWrapper instance=null;
        private MyServiceWrapper()  throws TimeoutException,
GatewayException, SMSLibException, IOException, InterruptedException
    {
                super();
                this.service = new Service();
                //SerialModemGateway gateway = new
SerialModemGateway("modem.com1",
"COM17", 57600, "Samsung", "Guru E1410");
                SerialModemGateway gateway = new
SerialModemGateway("modem.com1",
"COM23", 57600, "BLEU", "466x");
                gateway.setProtocol(Protocols.PDU);
                gateway.setInbound(true);
                gateway.setOutbound(true);
                gateway.setSimPin("0000");
                service.addGateway(gateway);
                service.startService();
                System.out.println("SMSLib Gateway ID: "+gateway.toString());
                ServiceStatus e=service.getServiceStatus();
                System.out.println("SMSLib Service Status: "+e.toString());
        }
        public Service getService()
    {
        return this.service;
    }
    public  static MyServiceWrapper getInstance() throws Exception {
        if (instance == null) {
                 instance = new MyServiceWrapper();
                }
        return instance;
    }
    public static void main(String args[]) throws Exception
    {
        MyServiceWrapper sw = MyServiceWrapper.getInstance();
                Service service = sw.getService();
                System.out.println("SMSLib MyServiceWrapper Instance :

                System.out.println("SMSLib Service Object:
"+service.toString());
        }
}
=============================================================================

Now i have run this program which after starting web server the
output is as follows:

Now when i want to get the service which is lready started by this way

        MyServiceWrapper sw1 =MyServiceWrapper.getInstance();
        Service service1 =sw1.getService();

but it failed and i am getting the "NoSuchPortException"

please give me the reason why this is happening ? and

also i want to know should smslib work well in j2ee environment as
compared to j2se ? and
