Hello all... I mentioned that I would be doing some testing on the Huawei modems and here is the result. It is not to scientific but will suffice.
Two modems were set up E156G <---> T-Mobile <---> E160G Modem A (Ping) Modem B (Pong) The Modem A test would send out a Ping 5 seconds after receiving a Pong. Modem B would send out a Pong 5 seconds after receiving a Ping. I sent out a Pong from my mobile to kick off the process. The Process ran for about three days. It produced about 22,000 messages on each modem and did not loose any messages. Each modem was keeping a counter. This did not test the maximum send rate for the modem only that it was reliable. The maximum send rate is really determined by the network / signal strength / send mode (EDGE/GPRS) / data length. In minimal testing it was roughly equivalent to the MultiTech EDGE modem that I commonly use. In any case, it seems that the modems are sufficient to run as production units. As a note, I did use the internal "ME" memory location. Using the sim card "SM" would probably cause quite a bit of wear. Also, the message were set to expire in 5 minutes to ensure that they would not just hang out on the network. I am sure to get an inquiry from my T-Mobile Rep asking me about all these messages next month. Cheers, -nxn
