In this case the 500 error happens when I run out of air-time (it is a
prepaid SIM card).  I have also seen it with network problems.  Not
worried about the cause of it.  I just want to make sure that the
system can recover from it.

The modem restarts with no problems most of the time.  But if you at
the end of the log you will see that the last restart never finished.
The modem is still in restart state even after close to 20 minutes.
It is hard to reproduce but it happens from time to time.
