I assume that by saying "if i disconnect modem" you mean physically unplug
the modem. right?

Don't do this! The JavaComm library is not very good at handling these
things - you may get stuck in an endless error dump, requiring smslib
restart.
SMSLib is not meant to handle these situations. It will try to handle modem
errors (by restarting the respective gateway) but it will not handle the
plug/unplug modem scenarios well.
