Liam I had 3 of those SUID file warnings on a disk repair with Disk Utility. I was told it was nothing to worry about, and found that also noted in a Google search. That does not help your crashes, I know. Maybe they are not related to the SUID problems.
I have been having crashes on my MacBook Pro, and have reckoned it is a fault in the graphics chip on the logic board. I still have not found time to take it in for repair under warranty yet.
