Copy & Paste and text forwarding are on their way in a future software update, perhaps it's a bit short sighted to return your iPhone simply because of the lack of that particular function?
I think background push notification for apps is a higher priority for Apple. What other phone do you know of that receives regular software updates that adds new features?
