there's an awful lot you can learn by tinkering and just looking at stuff. Changing settings and so on is usually reversible, I ust didn't want to leave you unconnected (and unable to ask for more help) to be honest, you've done well if it's run for four years. Most need to be turned on and off once a year. If I were you I would go and have a look around the settings and so on while it's still working!
