does anyone know if I can stop these apparently genuine
Facebook-originating emails without creating an account
specifically to block receiving them?
I suspect they got it from Myspace which I had to join for
something specific and wish I hadn't. But to my mind, this is
spam even if it's not overtly commercial.

Hi Davies,
I set up a Facebook profile where I can post my pictures, videos
and events and I want to add you as a friend so you can see it.
First, you need to join Facebook! Once you join, you can also
create your own profile.
Thanks,
Ed
