Hi Russell It's a fairly common defect, you can try calling Apple and they might give you a free top case & keyboard under warranty. If they won't then I can get hold of a new one for roughly £80 + VAT and £17.50 + VAT for half an hour's installation.
I'd really press Apple for a warranty replacement though as it's a very common issue.
