Go to http://groups.google.com/group/smug?hl=en-GB (the 'For more options, visit this group' link at the bottom of each mail), on the right-hand side there's an 'Edit My Membership' link - click that, and you have the option to receive No Email from the group. On your return, just turn it back on again.
