Hi Derek

Switch file sharing on in Apple Menu > System Preferences > Sharing.  
In any Finder window in the left hand column under the Shared section,  
there will appear your other Mac, click on it, click on "connect as",  
connect using the username & password on that mac (not the one you're  
using) and click connect (save the password in the keychain for ease  
of access). You'll then be able to see the list of shares on the other  
mac.

For extra points, go to the Finder menu > Preferences > tick to show  
connected servers on desktop. Drag the icon of the file share into  
your dock just to the right of the divider line (but not in the trash  
or it'll eject it) and it'll place an easy pointer to the share.

Generally you should connect to the user folder on the remote mac, so  
if the user is derekcross you'll get a share called derekcross where  
all your files are stored.
