My ex and son have my old imac and teh disk player is acting up - won't play home made disks. Since she has started doing transcription for a living this has suddenly become a problem (she didn't realise about the disks...).
They are both about as technically-savvy as they were the day they were born [yes, such teenagers do exist!] so I'm interested in recommendations for easy-to-install FW external disk readers. Plug and play, basically. (or are they USB now? I always prefer FW). Do these things need drivers? It's a ball and stick iMac that's frankly on the way out so no point upgrading the internal. I'm arranging for them to have my current iMac G5 which ALSO has a flakey internal drive that only plays shop-bought disks (and which I've never managed to debug even with a clean install. That started acting up just after a year) cheers --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Sussex Mac User Group" group.
