I'm running OS X 10.4.11 on a
Macbook Pro, with two accounts active. I'm currently hibernating and
waking the computer many times a day. (We're actually away in the US,
mostly taking a holiday but checking our business emails and servers). Most of the time, the MBP hibernates (and the resumes) perfectly. But sometimes it doesn't hibernate. There's doesn't seem to be an obvious reason and mostly the same apps are running at the times it works and when it doesn't. I've disabled SmartReporter as I thought that was causing the problem, but it hasn't changed things. This is what happens ... Press CTRL/Eject and select 'Sleep'. Laptop screen goes blank, and so does the second/attached screen. USB mouse light (MS Mouse) goes out. Usually, around 10-15 seconds then passes and then the hard drive stops and the front light pulses bright/dim. But sometimes, the hard drive keeps going and OS X hasn't hibernated. Waiting several minutes makes no difference. At this point, all key presses or mouse clicks are ineffective. I then have to hold the power button down for 10 seconds to reset everything. A press of the power button then brings up OS X as normal. Then everything works fine, it hibernates a few more times - and then the same problem occurs again. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions for the cause or how to find it?
