This one is tangled and I've lost track of what I've already
done -- would appreciate some help

1) Previous set up:

Netgear router/modem picks up connection from phone socket.
Connects to imac with ethernet, and MB with wireless. Shares the
IP address it gets happily. Attached disks move quickly over N
speeds (Netgear only has b/g). Retain b/g in order to use slower
devices separately and only MB connects to the AeBS station
wirelessly to keep connection 'pure'.

2) New setup. Swapped my iMac G5 with my son for his old iMac G4
(ball and stick). various reasons mean it has to go somewhere
else for use, out of easy reach of ethernet socket of Netgear.
It has no wireless card of its own but since I'm using it as a
filesharer (along with the disks on the AeBS network) I'd rather
it got N speeds over its ethernet connection to the AeBS.

This is where I have run into problems. I can't seem to persuade
the two routers to play nice. I've tried Bridge mode (no
internet from Netgear), extending a wireless network (the
Netgear doesn't seem to allow it and I've messed with settings
to no avail.)

What I would like is for the AeBS to pick up the internet
wirelessly as a client to the Netgear, then share two addresses,
one over ethernet to the iMac and one wirelessly to the MB. This
would mean that MB connects to AeBS network which provides both
internet (sourced from Netgear router) and access to the iMac
(over ethernet through AeBS).

What combination of settings do I need to do? I have told the
Netgear to allow the AeBS to join in and get an address (which
it does). I persuaded the AeBS to extend the Netgear network at
one point but then file transfer from the Airdisk was
pathetically slow.

What I'm saying is that this doesn't seem to be a candidate for
'level 1' support (are they plugged in? does x see y?). I'd like
to start with 'which settings should work on the AeBS' and take
it from there...:_)

thanks for any help.
