Hi all, I've still got my old powerbook kicking about and I need to get rid of it. So, open to offers.
Specs: This is a Rev B model manufactured between Sep 2003 and April 2004. 15" screen 1.25 GHz G4 PowerPC Processor 1 Gig of RAM 80Gb Hard drive 64Mb ATI graphics card Airport Extreme Superdrive 2xUSB 2.0, 1xFW400, 1xFW800 Bluetooth DVI and S-Video outputs Clean install of Leopard The good bits: - New third-party battery in April ago. Hasn't had many charges as it's been boxed upstairs most of that time. - New charger bought in February The not so good bits: - One of the two RAM slots doesn't seem to be working. There's a 1 gig and a 256 mb installed, but only the single 1 gig SO-DIMM shows on the profiler. Machine thinks the other slot is empty. I've swapped the RAM over and that showed that the slot is at fault. I haven't looked into fixing this, so I don't know if this is a permanent problem or not, but I've found 1 Gig to be a perfectly reasonable amount to run everything I want to. - The mic port doesn't work, but the internal mic is fine. I have heard that these dual-use audio ports (analogue and digital) can get 'jammed' on digital and therefore not recognise an analogue in. I don't know if that's what happened here or not. Again, I've not tried to fix this. - There's a mark on the screen. It's about the size and shade of one of the stars on the Leopard desktop. It ony seems to show on light backgrounds, like Word docs. The darker the background, the less visible it is. - There's a bit of orange card that has slipped in the lid an consequently obscures part of the glowing Apple in the lid. This is solely a cosmetic issue. - The cuff on the charger doesn't glow orange or green like it should. - The power charger sometimes needs a quarter twist at the point where it meets the laptop to make a connection and start charging. This is a fault with the laptop as this is the second charger with which it's displayed this behaviour. - Sometimes the screen dims itself by a couple of notches. This is a pretty rare occurence and just requires you to turn it back up. No sensible offer refused. Please et in touch offlist if you're interested.
