I've recently purchased a Canon 3010 B/W laser printer to link with my
iMac - only I've had to jump through hoops to get anywhere. Despite
the Canon specs. on their website (ie. compatible with OSX 10.5) it
does not come with the software to link up to a Mac. The discs
supplied are only for Windows. When I phoned the Canon helpline (who
were genuinely helpful) they told me I had to download driver 3.0 from
the web. I did this and the printer worked, but I had no printer
access on the computer, eg on-screen manual or changing parameters
such as toner density. I don't think I would have had a clue about
this if I hadn't also got a PC, which accepted the discs and showed me
what should have been on the Mac. So I rang Canon back and this time
they told me to contact a firm called Robert Scott, who would send me
a Mac disc. This I did and should receive it next week, but RS said I
was lucky as they only give a "window" of 2 weeks after purchase for a
free disc.
Sorry for such a long mail, but I am a bit miffed with Canon and
wanted to warn others.
