Hi Andy,

Manually changing permissions across a user folder is possible - but a
very bad idea indeed. My advice would be either:

1. Transfer the documents from the account you don't use to the Shared
folder [HD/Users/Shared], then access them from the other account and
move around as necessary;

2. Delete the account you don't use and select "Save as disk image" so
you have a browse-able image of all those files.
