Catherine there are size limits if you try sharing by email/MMS - it's much easier and faster to use iTunes especially if you have a long recording
Connect you iPhone and click on it on the left hand nav bar - then in the iPhone 'page' click on the 'Music' tab - there's a tick box to synch your voice memos. Once you synch the iPhone you can then search for your voice memo in the iTunes library - look for it by date/time and then rename it and share away!
