Hi
The card reader and the external hard drive do not appear in Disk
Utility (if I connect the external drive with a Firewire cable it does).
How do I reset the SMC?

reset SMC and see if Diskwarrior can see them. Or Disk Utility (even
if it won't mount them.)
any other USB stuff working? (have you got any?)
