All, This is partly a quick note to thank Sam for sorting out my suddenly hard-disk dead iMac with such speed and lack of drama, and partly a question (which I suspect Sam might answer) about re-installing stuff.
I have a back-up of my user fonts. Can I just drop the old fonts folder into the new users / philward / library location rather than using Fontbook to re-install them (which will be somewhat tedious).
