Now that I have had time to swap my hub from my office setup...

It works! The hub shows instantly on connection in the Airport Utility
as 4 "Generic STORAGE...." even before powering it. The Iomega drive
is connected to one of the 4 USB inputs on the hub and is listed
straight-away in Airport Utility. It works just fine without the hub
being powered at all.

Sam, is the something to do with the chipset/controller in the drive?
It's all a bit weird....
