I think I solved this issue - what may be helpful for everyone is that
I believe this to be a lack of support from the manufacturer of the
software.
We are constantly encouraged to upgrade - certainly our operating
system on the grounds of security, speed, efficiency - This renders
our application software susceptible to what I have just experienced -
unsupported functionality.
The current version of FileMaker is V11, I was on V8.5. It all seems
to be a marketing strategy to get us to buy the next better version of
the product.
In this case its costing me £150 to upgrade so that I can print
records from my database. My own fault because I upgraded OSX to the
latest version.
So be aware, when costing your upgrade it may be a bit more than you
budget - a bit like getting a builder in to do some repairs or
enhancement to your house - think of a figure and double it !
