As Jason pointed out in a reply earlier, the response for help/money as
donations to keep the domain name was amazing. Once again (from Jason),
thanks for all the offers. I thought I'd let you know the outcome and
the current status ...
Because we run several hosting servers, host a lot of websites and
register many domains, we get good prices for everything. With Jason's
'ok', I've taken control of the admin and renewal costs for the domain
name - and also for the website (web page) hosting. As I write this, the
domain has transferred to my control and the website is moving across to
my hosting servers overnight.
We're happy to support and sponsor good causes, and SMUG is definitely a
good cause in my book. Since first switching to Apple Mac (around 5
years ago), I've been given lots of good advice and help from many of
the people in the group. The people in this group have saved me a lot of
time and trouble. So, this is my chance to repay that help by covering
the relatively small cost of renewing a domain name every two years.
