amazingly, there was some money sitting in the end-of-budget IT account at work
and since I rarely get anything (most of them are using PCs which require
regular replacement!) I was allowed to buy the SSD disk when I promised it
would be 'like getting a new computer'.

so...am I right that I do this:

a) clone the internal hard drive
b) also do a TM backup to be sure
c) open up the macbook and swap the disks out
d) either start up from USB clone and use SuperDuper to copy to blank SSD OR
e) install the basic OS and then tell it to read off the TM backup as if a new
Mac?

Did I miss anything? Fiddly differences between d and e welcome (my guess is
that D is better as things installed at system level will travel across rather
than need reinstalling?)

Is there a significant advantange in

1) swapping out the disk
2) buying an enclosure for the old internal disk and copying back off that?

ONce It's all up and running, is TM going to be happy with the changed disk and
resume as if nothing had happened or do I need to do something?

it's exciting...and Macspeech Dictate might not hang all the time (though that
would be a REAL miracle...). almost like getting an iPad...
