eSATA is external SATA, which uses the same protocols but a slightly different 
connector, it also doesn't provide bus power. The USB2 part of the enclosure 
will be useful and as soon as Apple gets their act together and starts 
including eSATA ports on Macs, you'll be able to use the enclosure at full 
speed. I've got an eSATA card in my MacPro and the speed difference reading 
from drives is very noticeable.
