Does anyone here have any experience of firewire hubs? e.g. http://www.lindy.co.uk/3-port-firewire-800-repeater-hub/32911.html
I have daisy-chained firewire devices together very successfully, i.e. a P2 card reader to a fast hard drive array while on a film shoot with a macbook pro, as an example of "high bandwith" FW800 work, as well as running video cameras daisy chained through a hard drive to be able to log and capture on a newer macbook pro. all worked as advertised so I trust firewire's scsi like bus capabilities. The area i'm curious about is firewire's networking capabilities. Could a firewire hub such as the one pasted (just the first google result, not necessarily what im thinking of getting) be used to create a private network of three macs, where regular ethernet or wifi for whatever reason can't be used, and would it still work at near-ish native speed?
