Hi Richard The Snow Leopard retail pack will update directly from 10.4 - 10.6, no need to install or but 10.5 with this pack. The upgrade is exactly the same disc but legally is only to be used to upgrade from 10.5.
10.7 is still in development so anyone who knows anything about it is unable to say anything due to the NDA. It's logical to assume that this will be an upgrade of 10.6, with a retail pack if you're on 10.4 or 10.5.
