Hi Smuggers (but, I suspect, Sam)

When I got back from holiday my Seagate external HD, a few months old, portable USB-powered disk, had died while powered down (the mac was off).

Now another similar disk, but Western Digital, has just died on me too.

Luckly I took the suggestion here to go for a G-tech external, which I've done, so this loss (of a clone of the HD) is not mission-critical, but it has me nervous. Can USB hubs 'spike' and kill disks?

The hub is very hard to get to to identify;-) It's a Belkin 7-port, which has two on top and five along the back.

Or is it likely it's coincidence?
