Thanks for that Darren. You haven't met my wife - she loves everything to be just so. I had mentioned that option to her but she said it would not look right on her desk. Ho hum!

I'll just hope to strike lucky somehow.

You could always plug a cheap external screen into it. It's not a tidy solution but could be a cheap one.

Subject: [sussex_mug] i17" iMac Intel Core 2 Duo 1.83 Ghz Screen

I posted to the group some time ago about all the vertical lines that
were appearing on my i17" iMac Intel Core 2 Duo 1.83 Ghz.

As the computer is four years old, Apple declined to offer a
replacement and the money they wanted for a repair was laughable.

Can anyone advise me where I can find a replacement? The iMac is our
second computer and - screen apart - works perfectly and fulfills all
my wife's requirements. As we have just exchanged contracts on a new
apartment, money is not available to buy a new computer.

I seem to remember that someone offered me a second-hand iMac screen
(Sam, I think) but I wanted to persuade Apple to replace the screen.
More fool me!

Martin
