All,

Mobile Me and OS X mail have just gone haywire on my iMac - resulting in the complete (local) disappearance of my .mac email account.

The account still exists, 'cause I can sign in on web mail and use it on my laptop, but the iMac is suddenly behaving as if the account doesn't exist.

The first sign that something was wrong was a dialogue box appearing from nowhere saying my Mobile Me password has changed (which it clearly hasn't 'cause I can use it to sign in to the mobile me web site). So I logged out of Mobile Me and re-started the iMac to find that any sign that Mobile Me was ever set up on the iMac, and any .mac email missing.

Thoughts anybody?
