I've been using a company called IJT (Inkjets and Toners) who supply OEM and
recycled cartridges/toners for a number of years. I bought 4 recylced toners
and was given an OKI B2400 mono laser printer for free. We've had it now for
about 3 years and it's used or students' research/essay proofing and has had
much use - with no problems at all. The toners, last time I bought some, were
about £30 each.

They've always got some sort of 'buy toners, get a free printer' offer going.
Might be worth taking a look. www.makingitgreen.co.uk

Hope you get sorted.

Subject: [sussex_mug] Basic laser printer

I've finally had enough of the hassle I go through with my inkjet on those
infrequent - but just frequent enough to be annoying - occasions that I want
to print. The problems are two-fold: firstly because inkjets are never good
for infrequent use, as the printheads dry up/clog. Secondly because in a
moment of madness I bought a Lexmark wireless printer a couple of years ago,
which is a terrible piece of trash, with very poor Mac drivers, that falls off
the wifi network repeatedly.

So I've determined to buy a small laser printer instead, and forego colour in
exchange for getting something that can reliably be switched on and print
after indefinite periods off; and relocate it to somewhere that it can be
wired into the router.

Unfortunately, it turns out that there are lots of choices of small cheap mono
laser printers these days; even when you narrow it down to those with
Ethernet. Brother, Samsung, Dell, Kyocera, Canon and perhaps others all offer
something in the < £150 range. Some even have WiFi as well.

Does anyone have experience with any of these? Bad experiences as useful as
good - eg printers that don't play nice with Mac? Also if anyone has
experience with one of these that actually worked properly on WiFi, that would
be good, as it would give me more choices about where to put it.

All advice gratefully received.

Ben
