Virginia, If your friend clicks on the link on the line 'For more options…' then on the Google Groups SMUG web page on the righthand side you should see a link 'Join this group' (for existing members it reads 'Edit my membership'). HTH Incidentally a search on 'mac user groups' in Google Groups shows SMUG to be one of the most active Mac groups using the Google Groups service (only exceeded by the Italians).
