Hello I'm trying to help someone add an IP-based printer (Canon LBP5300) connected via Ethernet to a white iMac 1.83GHz Intel Core Duo on OSX 10.5.8
It used to work fine but the printer got disconnected and when switched on again got a new IP address. Canon's NetSpot installer can see the printer fine, shows me its IP address. But when I go to add a printer via System Preferences I click the plus icon (+) and a dialogue appears with every option blanked out. No printers listed, no dropdowns working - just greyed out. I've left it for 5 mins but nothing happens. I've tried reinstalling the Canon drivers, rebooting, running software update without luck. Any ideas?
