I have seen two real-world uses for an internal firewire port, 1 being a PC
with a front firewire port on the the panel, that connected to a firewire
PCI card with the port facing "inside" the second being the fire dtv
satellite and cable tuner "inside models" of their firewire digital tuners.
they mounted in a pci port for stability, but connected to the inside
firewire port.

USB on the other hand, never seen a use for it, but I can imagine if people
maybe wanted to build some kind of display on the front of the computer,
like on those home theatre PCs perhaps? I wouldn't mind having one actually
to mount SNES controller ports onto the front of a computer panel, but that
would be a home-brew hacking project... so I guess its a feature to
advertise to hackers :-)
