see, this kind of thing is enough for me never to touch it. It's the

a) don't trust iPhoto, having lost, well, PHOTOS
b) er, that's it.
I don't often mess with them and don't know enough to know why I would
want Lightroom instead of PShop (etc). But I might have a play again. I
tried the 1.0 versions. The dealbreaker for me was that they didn't
catalogue videos.
ALso, iPhoto will presumably get updated for free as the OS changes but
Aperture and Lightroom might not (eg current version won't run on eg
10.8) forcing a paid upgrade...
