An option for iplayer to tv(library not live streaming) would be to buy a wii 
or a PS3 (second hand wii is about £70-80) and the remotes can be bluetooth 
paired to the mac for fun too. I don't know if the xbox also has an iplayer 
app, but basically the answer I'm suggesting that isn't hooking your computer 
to the TV would be to hook a low cost iplayer capable device to it. 

Or an x-generation iPod touch with tv-out capability maybe?
