Using Apple Mail 4.5 and OS 10.6.8, I get mailboxes that give incorrect counts of the number of messages in them. I have one that, when empty, says it has 4 messages. Rebuilding makes no difference. I get this behaviour on more than 1 machine, but the mailboxes at fault differ.
