If you don't want to spring for the full version of Photoshop, there's an open 
source alternative : 
http://rubenerd.com/ufraw-on-mac-os-x-to-open-raw-raf-files/

It boils down to installing MacPorts (which is useful to have anyway) then 
installing UFRaw to run in X11. The X11 installer should be on your computer's 
installer DVD under Optional Installers.

The website above has quite clear instructions so should be ok to follow.
