My experience so far with 10.7 Lion.

Just for info really.

I repartitioned a 500gb External and connected it to my MacBook Pro via USB 2.0.

Started up from a 10.7GM Installer and installed to the external drive. After
the installation was finished, I Restored from a TimeMachine Backup and
everything I tested seemed to work fine - all my mainstream apps etc. CS5.5, MS
Office 2011, iLife '11, iWork '09, Mail, Safari, Chrome, Firefox and Parallels
6 which offered me the aforementioned update which I applied. It still worked
and felt quicker but that's probably just me.

I didn't test MYOB Accounting Plus or anything else that needs Rosetta - what
would be the point?!

One thing that slightly annoyed me was the number of icons I ended up with in
LaunchPad. Pretty much anything which contained executable code got its own
icon running to about 8 pages worth - there's about three pages of Windoze
items and it appears there's only so many you can group into a 'folder,' also,
couldn't find a way to manually delete them - if they don't have an 'X' in the
top left corner when you click and hold to make them 'wiggle' you can't delete
them.

Bearing all that in mind, when the release comes out, I'll be installing a new
1tb HD in my MBP, installing Lion on that then carrying out a clean install of
everything else.

Oh, one other thing. I have a Netgear ReadyNAS Duo with 2x2tb Drives installed
as a network file server and TimeMachine destination. Can't file share and
TimeMachine won't backup to it. This one could be interesting. I've found a
way to allow Authenticated File Sharing but that doesn't fix the TM problem.

Watch this space - life on the bleeding edge of technology!
