It is also a mac plugin as well as a windows one. I personally never had problems with it, but I heard many many horror stories about it on this very mailing list, so I removed it.
So I feel like I was lucky I removed it before a disaster happened. I'm sure Sam will chip in with some actual disasters rather than close calls.
