I've got an open call with a cupertino engineer about it. doubtless
they'll just affirm it's a problem.

is anyone else disappointed with a few such niggles with the OS and
built in apps?

Is it me, or are some animations a little less than smooth?
The Pages hard disk noise
Etc?

Is a major new release usually like this? I remember things being very
smooth on OS 6!
