It's now in restore mode... Permanently  Tried three different machines or 
start up disks. Each time it gets two-thirds of the way across on the iPad 
screen then fails while Verifying firmware. Sometimes I get error 3004 which 
I'm told may be fixed by flushing the cache in terminal but it doesn't work. 

Anythig else to try before I angrily march over to a genius appointment? 
Updates that cripple are really poor. And I won't be at home much so even if I 
get it working, it'll be days before I can restore it. 

Bah.
