Hi Ranulph On your iPod go to home > settings > iCloud > check that you're signed into iCloud.
With iCloud you get 5GB for free and the option to subscribe for extra space. MobileMe was never free though. Growl's been fine for me on the latest version, though it does now cost a couple of pounds on the app store.
