Also just to say that having 802.1X authentication turned on won't make your 
connection unstable, it'll just allow you join networks with that type of 
authentication, while still allowing you to join regular networks. I've seen 
many a laptop with university wifi credentials stored in them and still able to 
maintain a normal wifi connection at home.
